Google Assistant proffers voice commands to Android apps for tasks. Google Assistant is an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant created by Google that is primarily available on smartphones and smart home devices. In comparison to the company’s previous virtual assistant, Google Now, the Google Assistant will engage in two-way conversations.

Google Assistant is expanding voice commands to Android devices. Now, you can say, “Hey Google,” not only to open but to perform unique tasks inside the apps. Google has introduced this feature to some 30 of the top Google Play applications available globally in English and will soon be expanded to more applications. This functionality has already begun to roll out. The tech giant also introduced two new English voices to Google Assistant; it used an updated prosody model to make voices more realistic.

With this improved integration of Google Assistant with Android apps, you can now do stuff like listen to music, post on social media, order food, call a taxi, and more with just your voice. You can also create custom phrases for your most popular tasks using Assistant. For example, you can build a shortcut to just say, “Hey Google, lace it,” instead of “Hey Google, tighten my shoes with Nike Adapt.”

“People do a lot more with their apps than just opening and browsing apps, and we want to allow voice commands for those daily tasks as well,” said Adam Coimbra, Google’s product manager, in a blog post.

Google launched these new features and more on Google’s Assistant Developer Day. The search giant said it aimed to make Android and mobile more useful and easy. It said the latest built-in app behavior would enable Android developers to quickly integrate Google Assistant with their applications, as well as help users easily discover and engage with Android apps.

You can do stuff like ask Google to search the news on Twitter, find a playlist on Spotify, start running for the Nike Run Club, send a note to everyone on Discord, open the Snapchat Celebrity Story for your voice now.
