Virat Kohli’s captaincy stint at IPL with RCB, came to an end with his team bowing out of IPL 2021 in the eliminator.
The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was filled with emotions. Virat Kohli who had confirmed at the start of the resumed IPL in the UAE that he will step down as captain of the side this season, played his last as the RCB skipper in a heartbreaking loss to KKR. His IPL captaincy stint with RCB, spanning 11 seasons (2011-2021) came to an end with his team bowing out of IPL 2021 in the eliminator. Throughout the seasons, Kohli endured as many losses and victories, through the ups and downs. After the loss to KKR at the ongoing season of IPL, the cricketer said that he has given his “120 percent” every year leading the side. “I have tried my best to create a culture here where youngsters could come in and play expressive cricket and belief. It is something I have done with Indian team level as well. I have given my best. I don’t know how the response has been of that, but I can vouch for the fact that I have given 120% to this franchise every year leading the team, which is something I will now do as a player,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation ceremony. He led the team in 140 matches with 66 wins to 70 defeats. As the batsman signs off as RCB captain without an IPL trophy, fans have flooded social media with pictures of Kohli, thanking him for his powerful stint throughout seasons.
